I make it a point to not pay much attention to what is going on in government- my time is much more valuable. Health care is the one issue that I cannot ignore, at least once a year, as I see my family’s insurance bill rise yet again. This year it was slated to go up another $275 per month- and that would have been for coverage only on the Front Range of Colorado where we live and a few other locations! If we traveled to Utah for example we would not have been covered! If someone can explain the logic behind this, and the legality, I would like to hear it.

For some background, before the ACA- the Affordable Care Act (which I like to call the Affordable Care my Ass act), before health care became affordable, my family had very adequate coverage, a low deductible, low copay, and we were covered wherever we went and whatever we did. We paid about $450 a month for that coverage as part of a small business owners’ group plan.  That plan become illegal under the ACA (not enough money in it for Big Business).

Now that health care has become affordable, to get the same coverage would cost us around $2200 a month.  As it stands, this year we chose a short-term plan, the cheapest option available at about $650 per month.  From my perspective it amounts to nothing more than a payoff to keep the government off our backs, as we essentially have no health care. We have a very high deductible, no copay, and nearly everything is paid out of pocket. Basically none of us will go to a doctor this year. But at least we are “covered” beyond our own back yard. If we are injured on a trip outside of Colorado, we do have “coverage”, whatever that means.

Let it be known that my affordable health care has increased by nearly $100 again this year. I am now paying nearly $1000 a month- very affordable! I paid about $450 dollars a month before it became affordable.  Thank you to Barack Obama, Congress, and Cigna for all your help with this matter. I am so happy to support big business, giant healthcare concerns, Wall Street, and all the entitled millions of Americans, and non-Americans, that need my help.

Sorry, but I have to ask.  Just when is my health care coverage going to become affordable?

With that question asked, once again, I found shockingly honest comments on ObamaCare by none other than Bill Clinton. I am not sure why they are showing up now, a month later, but they are. Here are the important lines from an article at TheNewAmerican.com:

On Monday, October 3, former President Bill Clinton, in a series of unexpected and perhaps unscripted comments while stumping on behalf of his wife’s presidential campaign in Flint, Michigan, took the political world by surprise when he singled out ObamaCare for scathing criticism. “You’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden, 25 million more people have health care, and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half and it’s the craziest thing in the world,” Clinton told a crowd of supporters.

He added that “the current system works fine if you’re eligible for Medicaid, if you’re a lower-income working person, if you’re already on Medicare or if you get enough subsidies on a modest income that you can afford your health care.”

But overall, Clinton concluded, ObamaCare is hurting the very people it was intended to help, pointing out that “the people getting killed in this deal are the small-business people and individuals who make just a   little bit too much to get any of these subsidies.”

There you go, Bill Clinton’s comments no less. Here is the full article. Thank you to the Patriot Trading Group for bringing this to our attention.

I just got off the phone with my insurance agent. It seems that my health plan, once again, does not fall withing the guidelines of the “Affordable Care Act”.  And so, once again, it is being phased out. The result, once again, the cost will go up- another $100 per month perhaps.

On the bright side, if this continues to happen I might reach the point where I pay so much for health care coverage that I will be able to get subsidies!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- God Bless America!

I am not one to waste much time on the political process. Yes, I used the word “waste” very intentionally. But for this election I plan to pay attention. I am going to become a one issue voter. And that issue is health care.

Yesterday I received a call from my insurance agent who informed me that my current plan, which had been grandfathered in when so-called “affordable care” came along, will not be renewed next year. My monthly costs had already more than doubled since things become affordable. I am now paying close to $750 dollars a month for three of us. Our bill was about $350 a month on my small business plan for the exact same coverage before becoming affordable. Our monthly bill may rise another $100 or $150 a month I am told. I can only take so much of this.

So, my plan for the election will be to support the candidate who will do away with this affordable care menace completely. Plain and simple. That will be my one issue. I do not care if Roe v. Wade is abolished, I do not care if every felon and certified lunatic is given an assault weapon, I do not care if we finally end up at war with Russia, or if we send the military to our southern border. As long as my one issue is resolved.

God bless America.
