Momentary Observation: Perspective and What It Reveals

This happened some time ago.

I was at a fundraiser at my son’s school. My job was to tend the fire pit outside, to have an inviting fire burning for those needing a break from music and dancing. This was the perfect job for me. I was at the fire enjoying the warmth, the night sky, the relative quiet. A woman came out to join me and her first words were, “It’s lonely out here.” My reply was, “No. It’s peaceful.”
